Theater on the Verge is excited to announce auditions for our summer production of Harvey Fierstein’s TORCH SONG, directed by Troy Nickerson.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. No prepared monologues, please.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
TORCH SONG is Fierstein’s groundbreaking portrait of love, identity, and resilience, set in New York’s drag and gay communities of the late 1970s. The play follows Arnold Beckoff, a drag performer navigating his search for love and family amid a society that often refuses to accept him.
ROLES AVAILABLE:
• Arnold Beckoff — A drag performer; deeply funny, emotionally resilient. (Our licensing agreement dictates that the actor playing Arnold must be 35 or younger.)
• Ed Reiss — Arnold’s former lover; conflicted and struggling with his bisexuality; 30s to 40s.
• Laurel — Ed’s girlfriend; bright, open-hearted; 20s to 30s.
• Alan — Arnold’s model boyfriend; confident, vibrant; 20s.
• David — Arnold’s witty and spirited foster son; plays 15-17.
PLEASE NOTE:
• The part of Ma Beckoff has already been cast.
• The play contains adult language and mature themes.
• Rehearsals will begin in early June.
• Performances run July 17–August 2, 2025 at Hamilton Studio.
